Well, not dead per se, but life.
It’s funny how life gets in the way of the things you used to enjoy doing. But I think I’ve blogged about that in the past, so we’ll look toward the future.
I’m going to have another go at NaNoWriMo 2015 this coming month. I didn’t do horribly in the past, but I never was able to follow through the entire month. Mostly excuses. This year, I’m going to try again to force the perfectionist in me to stay deep in the depths of my soul while I frantically write before she breaks her way through again.
I’m dabbling now in a different genre, instead of the romance or erotic I have in the past – I’m attempting murder thrillers now. Which is (pretty much) entirely different than romance. I mean…mostly.
Over this last year, I haven’t written much of anything. A page here, a page there. Depressing really. I can recognize my two biggest problems though. 1. I read “between the lines” when someone tells me my writing is good. “It’s good, but try this…” means why are you EVEN trying? Idiot. “This is great, but you should try writing in present tense…” means it’s cute you think this could go anywhere. — I really need to stop showing anyone anything, write and finish for ME…and then worry about others. That is the number one rule I want to get myself to abide by this year. 2. Time management. I have twin 5 year olds now and they are a BUNDLE of energy. I work 4x10s, run a small home based business the rest of the time. And am trying to stay in shape better this year. So my time — well, let’s just say if I am going to get ANYWHERE in November — I need to figure out what is going to decrease and where I can increase writing time. Do I get up earlier (than 4:45am)? Do I stay up later (than 10pm)? Do I write during lunch periods, and lose biking/running time?
Yes, time management – I’ll have to figure out my commitment and what I want out of NaNo. Maybe an extra half an hour in the morning would get me started? I mean, hey, I’ve written 430 words in this blog already and it’s still the beginning of my day!
